How we started...

Mr. Tran Chi VienOne day in 1988, while a group of Chao Chow people met at Tong Por Restaurant in Chinatown of Montreal for a tea party, they first voiced their long-cherished wish to establish a townsmen association to magnify the tradition of fraternity.

After several discussions and intense preparations, nine elected townsmen submitted the application for setting up such an organization to the metropolitan government of Montreal. In February 1988, the Chao Chow Townsmen Association of Quebec (Canada) was officially established. Meanwhile, the council members and the supervision members were elected. Mr. Tran Chi Vien became the first president of the Association.
